haircut!

i feel SO much lighter now! here's the before:

what do you think? i haven't had it this short in years & years so i'm still getting used to it. but it's pretty spunky :)

appointment is made...

the big haircut appointment is made for this weekend....i keep pulling my hair back and trying to envision it super short again. and i'm waivering a bit.

so i look at more pics of this pixie cut...

and make a plan to not wuss out at my appointment.

it must be spring fever...

it's warm (low 30's) and sunny (the sun actually FEELS warm for the first time in months) and suddenly my hair decides to be ridiculous and wants to get chopped off. check out my previous hair escapades here.

its been many years...but i'm thinking of making a big change.

makeup & hair

my maid of honor jamie & i did some experimenting last weekend on my wedding hair & makeup. my friend amber (who is an incredible makeup artist and owner of cor cosmetics) ran us through a makeup lesson and showed us some tricks & tips for application and to get that awesome glow. here's some pics...

my hair...jamie curled it and did a gorgeous job. and then we pinned it at the top.

after some trial and error, we decided that the best option would be to curl it and then pin all of it up for the wedding. sorry, no pics of that - some things need to be a surprise! :)

hair

i felt the "i need to change my hair because it is driving me crazy" urge last night. uh oh. i thought about posting a picture of my current hairdo, but frankly, a) it isn't looking so good and b) camera phones don't exactly make me photogenic. so no picture. to give you an idea on length, its probably grown to about 4-5" below my shoulders. i've had a variety of different lengths, from pixie cut short to past the middle of my back long.

i'm scouring the internet for a decent picture of something i'd like. keep in mind, i'm completely lazy when it comes to my hair. i rarely "do" my hair. usually remember to brush it in the morning. most of the time i throw it up because it's irritating me.

this is fairly similar to my current cut. mine's just grown out a bit.

um so who doesn't love claire danes? long enough to put back but short enough to not make me crazy.

my favorite. might involve some actual "doing" of the hair, but won't take long.

thoughts? opinions? i'm pretty sure my mom will just say "DON'T CUT YOUR HAIR! IT'S SO PRETTY LONG!!!!!!" right mom? :)

december first friday & hair trauma

sorry for the sporadic posting lately. with all of the shows coming to an end, i think i'll be able to get back into the swing of things & actually post on a regular basis. i'll have new photos to share from the show, updates for the website, and custom order pics, in addition to lots of other things...

i dropped off my inventory at artique yesterday and felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. what a relief! the ladies who work at the gallery were oohing & aahing over the books - it made my day :) check out artique's website - i'm listed in the right hand column under byron birdsall for saturday, december 5th! i'm looking forward to stopping by friday night for their first friday reception too & checking out some other things downtown - such as....

- the lovely ladies of one world designs & annie's arts & follies will be showing their gorgeous jewelry at kaladis downtown. go here for details.
- and i'm going to visit upstairs studio to pick up a bracelet i ordered that matches my belt and to check out the venue. i've had a lot of requests for bookmaking classes and this working studio might be a great place to hold a class or two.

on a completely unrelated side note, i was shopping at tar-jay (target) for a few things and bought these weird bendy hair rollers. since i'm getting irritated with my hair (& am getting the urge to cut it off), i thought i'd try something new. i tried them out and got crazy hair, although you probably can't see it too well in my quality camera phone picture:
let me just say, i've developed a new found respect for all of you people out there with naturally curly/wavy hair. i don't know how you get unruly hair to co-operate, but i applaud you. my hair is actually looking better now that it's starting to relax a bit. i'll probably try this out a few more times & see if i can make it work. or just get a haircut.
