grandpa

today is the 2 year anniversary of my grandpa passing away. i clearly remember where i was and what i was doing when i got the phone call.

i miss you grandpa.

now that big huge important things are secured, such as the wedding & reception venue, food, cake, and dj....on to more fun stuff. like flowers! i'm not going to go crazy with flowers everywhere but a few would be nice. here's some pics i found on the knot (which don't match the wedding colors at all - oh well)...any thoughts?

i love cake. seriously, LOVE cake. and quite honestly, i'm not big on fancy shmancy cake flavors either. fruity cakes don't really do it for me, although i won't turn down a piece if offered :) i like vanilla or chocolate....or even better: CONFETTI cake!! you remember confetti cake right? the kind with the little rainbow dots in it? it's like a party in your mouth!

art shows

its official: i made it into all 3 art shows that i applied for this year!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

i will be at the following shows:
- G Street Artist Gathering on Saturday July 10th - my first outdoor show (pray for good weather!)
- Bad Girls of the North on Friday November 5th & Saturday November 6th
- Crafts Weekend at the Museum on Thanksgiving weekend

now if you will excuse, i have to go start working in my studio until the end of time.

wedding invites

i've been slaving away on the wedding invites. ok, maybe not slaving, but i've logged quite a few hours on them thus far. i wanted to create something fun and a bit different from a traditional invitation, since we aren't exactly a traditional couple. i'm working on the designs right now - and will send them off to have letterpress plates made as soon as i'm done. hopefully we will have our location nailed down this week so i can finish the next part of the invitations! so here's the plan:

i'm going to use an A7 half-moon enclosure:

and print this design on it (in our colors, red & aqua):

then use this flat card to print addition info - like our full names, parents names, place, time & date - and slide this flat card into the enclosure:

i'm going to print a white 4 bar rsvp card and include this little envelope:

and put everything (enclosure w/ flat card, rsvp card & envelope) into this envelope:

weekend

between our crazy puppies, wedding planning, work, art, gun classes, and trying to sleep occasionally, things have been nuts around here!

i helped out at a women's defensive gun class over the weekend. saturday was a beautiful day and the sun was bright & warm. the class was good and i was exhausted by the end of the day. its amazing how much energy i use making sure people are being safe. the other coach & i did get to shoot during lunch time for a bit...and that was fun! :)

art news....will post this week!

puppies...our two furry kids are getting along great! mia has finally settled in to life with us and wags her tail a lot more. we have been taking her to puppy class and she is doing quite well. its interesting to watch vito & mia interact...vito seems to be a little more "grown up". sometimes. mia has become VERY attached to vito - something we are a bit concerned about. we don't want her to have separation anxiety. she's so sensitive and intelligent. bfff & i both wonder what happened in her past. here's a couple of pics from my phone (they came out dark, so i tried to brighten them up and now they are washed out. poo.)

wedding planning

big, huge strides in the world of wedding planning have been made in the last few days! in addition to nailing down a date, bfff and i have our location for the big day just about figured out (a couple of small things to check on before the final final decision). the invitations are in process...i'm almost ready to send off the files for the first batch of letterpress plates. catering proposal is being figured out...

and the big GIANT news: WE HAVE A PHOTOGRAPHER!!!! it's official! she booked her flights :)

her name is christine pobke and she's an old friend of mine from college. and she does some seriously killer work. it's absolutely gorgeous. check out her website: pobke photography and be sure to visit her blog - there are a ton of pictures on it. i'm ecstatic to be seeing my dear friend in the near future. she's going to do a fabulous job!!
